Louis Armstrong House Museum
You might not be able to poop exactly where Pops did—an ornate chamber replete with a mirrored wall, marble sink, and gold swan faucets—but you can take a groovy tour of the house Satchmo lived in with his wife, Lucille, from 1943 until his death in 1971. Armstrong is best known for his New Orleans style jazz, but he was also the first and perhaps only celebrity spokesman for Swiss Kriss herbal laxative. Flushing Town Hall
Romanesque Revival architecture make this one-time municipal government headquarters one of the more stately places in Queens to take a seat on the throne. St. George's Church
This Gothic Revival church has been serving the community of downtown Flushing for more than 300 years. The Episcopalian house of worship is open daily for meditation. And, yes, there is a restroom. It's located in the back on the left hand side. Don't just barge on in though. You'll have to ask a kindly woman who serves as gatekeeper. Apparently, municipal bus drivers have been known to keep the place less than tidy. While she's sizing you up she'll probably mention something about a key. Sri Maha Vallabha Ganapati Devasthanam (Ganesa Temple)
This Hindu temple devoted to the elephant headed deity Ganesh is the only one of its kind in the New York City area and serves thousands of Indians in the tri-state area. Pay your respects to Ganesh and the other devas on the main floor of the ornate temple. Afterwards, head around the corner to the basement Temple Canteen, which serves delicious South Indian vegetarian specialties, including 2-foot-long paper dosa.   45-57 Bowne Street, Flushing

Queens Botanical Garden
Located at the Southern end of Main Street this oasis in the hustle and bustle of downtown Flushing features a rose garden, herb garden, and beehives. The plants aren't the only green thing in the garden either. The administration building is a "green" building that's earned Platinum LEED certification.
