Power Home Remodeling Group™ Expands Into Massachusetts, Creating Hundreds of New Green Jobs
Company's significant job creation up and down East Coast will help ease record-high unemployment
Company donates $10K to Massachusetts YouthBuild Coalition to support green job training
CHESTER, Pa., Sept. 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Power Home Remodeling Group, the nation's fourth largest home remodeling company, has expanded its operations in Marlborough, Massachusetts — ushering in hundreds of new, green jobs in the greater Boston metropolitan area. Power has already hired more than 50 employees in the Boston region and plans to create at least 100 jobs in 2011 and another 100 – 250 in 2012. Power will host an official ribbon cutting today at its Marlborough offices with the support of state and local elected officials, including Lieutenant Governor Timothy P. Murray; Congressman James McGovern; State Senator Jamie Eldridge; State Representative Steven Levy; and Marlborough Mayor Nancy Stevens.
"We are thrilled to expand our operations and to call Marlborough our new home base in Massachusetts," said Jeff Kaliner, Power's co-founder and chief executive officer. "This expansion will provide more opportunity — both for our current employees and for prospective employees looking for stability, growth and earning potential in the green jobs sector. Our aggressive expansion approach continues to demonstrate our goal of being the leading home improvement company with a special focus on green products and energy efficient, environmentally friendly solutions to help homeowners enhance their home and reduce their energy consumption."
Power's burgeoning success in a rebounding economy is due in large part to the administration's 2010 energy efficiency tax credit for homeowners. In 2010, Power installed energy efficient solutions in more than 14,000 homes and sites. In 2011, the company expanded into three additional new markets including Boston, Long Island and Atlanta — and is projected to add another 400 jobs. Power's portfolio of innovative, energy efficient exterior remodeling solutions includes replacement windows, vinyl siding, roofing, entry and garage doors, attic insulation, gutters and guards, and more.
"Governor Patrick and I continue to support existing as well as expanding businesses across the state," said Lieutenant Governor Timothy Murray. "Power Home Remodeling is a great example of a thriving company that has decided to expand its footprint in Massachusetts by not only creating new jobs and spurring business growth, but also working in partnership with organizations to give back to the community. We welcome Power to Massachusetts, and are excited to celebrate their expansion plans in Marlborough."
When Power opens a new office location, the company is committed to ingraining itself into the local community and embarks on various community-related initiatives. With the opening of the Marlborough operation, Power is contributing $10,000 to the Massachusetts YouthBuild Coalition to help support resources and programs for the 10 YouthBuild chapters across the state. The Coalition facilitates cross-program collaboration and sharing of best practices across all chapters.
YouthBuild is a free youth and community development program and alternative school that offers career training in green industries to low-income young people between the ages of 16 - 24. YouthBuild provides them with the opportunity to work toward their high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) while learning hands-on job skills and improving their chances to be hired in Massachusetts' growing construction and eco-industries. Power plans to provide additional support to the YouthBuild organization, including Power employees assisting with retrofitting training and job shadowing opportunities for YouthBuild students.
Kaliner added, "Ultimately, YouthBuild gives young people the chance to turn their life around. We want to join that mission and help give them the tools to change not only their own lives by developing green job skills and a career, but their communities as well through their positive contributions."
Additionally, in April, Power announced its national sponsorship of Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), one of the leading foundations for pediatric cancer, having raised more than $40 million and funded more than 150 cutting-edge research projects. Power has committed to donate one dollar per window, per square of siding and per square of roofing installed throughout the year in an effort to raise awareness of pediatric cancer within each of the markets Power offers home improvement services.
Power also extends a 25 percent discount (in addition to any current promotions) to members of the local police and fire departments. For more information about Power and available career opportunities, please visit PowerHRG.com.
