Preeclampsia Foundation Launches New Educational Videos to Support Postpartum Recovery after Hypertensive Disorders of Pregnancy

MELBOURNE, Fla., Sept. 30, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The Preeclampsia Foundation announced today the launch of two new educational videos designed to help patients, families, and healthcare providers navigate recovery after high blood pressure during or after pregnancy. They focus on empowering patients with practical guidance for the immediate postpartum period and long-term health beyond pregnancy.

These resources were co-created with Ann Celi, MD, MPH, a physician at Brigham and Women's Hospital and faculty member at Harvard Medical School, the Foundation's Patient Advisory Council and Medical Advisory Board to ensure they reflect both the latest evidence and the real-world needs of the affected community.

Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP), including preeclampsia, eclampsia, or HELLP syndrome can make recovery physically and emotionally challenging. High blood pressure can continue or even begin after delivery, putting women who have had HDP at higher risk for both immediate and long-term health problems like heart disease. Ongoing follow-up care is essential to support recovery and promote future wellness.

The videos serve as a companion to the Foundation's free printable My Health Beyond Pregnancy tool, created in partnership with the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine and the International Society for the Study of Hypertension in Pregnancy.

One video, 7 Tips for Immediate Postpartum Care, focuses on practical steps patients can take in the days and weeks after birth, including monitoring symptoms, prioritizing rest, and knowing when to seek medical care. The second, 8 Steps to Care for your Health Beyond Pregnancy addresses self-advocacy, long-term health risks, and follow-up care after high blood pressure in pregnancy.

A challenging pregnancy experience such as preeclampsia can have lasting implications for overall health. These videos in English and Spanish expand the Foundation's robust library of evidence-informed, patient-centric educational materials and reinforce the importance of empowered, continuous care from pregnancy through postpartum and beyond.
