WASHINGTON, July 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The 2016 Gasification and Syngas Technologies Conference will highlight emerging markets, spotlight advances in syngas and methanol production, and provide the latest updates on global projects and important trends in biomass and waste gasification.
The Gasification and Syngas Technologies Council (GSTC), the world's premier trade association for the syngas and gasification industries, released the preliminary conference program today. GSTC is hosting the event Oct. 16-19 in Vancouver, Canada.
The annual conference is the gasification and syngas industries' largest and most prestigious event -- attracting speakers, participants and media from the Americas, Asia and Europe. This year's conference will have a special focus on methanol after GSTC formed a strategic partnership with the Methanol Institute.
"We're excited to be bringing the industries' top leaders and foremost experts together at our newly expanded conference," said Alison Kerester, GSTC's Executive Director. "We're now focusing on all syngas producing technologies, methanol, and new syngas markets, such as syngas for fuel cells. So this will be the ideal place to meet a lot of key people in each of these industries."
Formerly known as the Gasification Technologies Council, the association expanded this year to encompass the syngas production, processing and conversion industries. This year's conference has expanded as well.
Among the topics to be covered in detail:
Emerging markets for methanol
Methanol plant expansion to increase profitability
Syngas to liquid fuels
Syngas for fuel cells
Syngas to hydrogen, ammonia/urea and derivatives
Syngas cleaning and conditioning
Waste and biomass to energy
Technology and equipment advances
Updates on global projects
The preliminary agenda can be found at www.gasification-syngas.org/events/2016-conference, with new speakers and presentations added regularly. The conference's Gold Sponsors include Synthesis Energy Systems and KP Engineering; Silver Sponsors include CB&I; and Bronze Sponsors include GE.
For those interested in joining GSTC, the international association has announced a special offer for new members: Join this year and get next year's membership for free.
GSTC is making the offer available on both levels of its membership. Anyone joining this year will receive the same level of membership next year free of charge.
"We're making this special offer to mark our expansion and highlight the many rewards of joining GSTC," Kerester said.
Kerester noted that GSTC members earn a significant return on their investment, including:
Business development opportunities generated by strategic global and domestic marketing programs;
Networking opportunities that include exclusive meetings with industry executives, experts and governmental organizations;
Access to outreach materials to inform citizens, regulators and legislators about the benefits of gasification. GSTC is currently developing outreach materials to cover other syngas-producing technologies as well.
A comprehensive gasification industry database, as well as a new steam methane reforming database that is under development for members only.
