Procopio Partner John D. Alessio Elected Incoming Managing Partner
SAN DIEGO, Sept. 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Procopio Partner John D. Alessio has been unanimously elected by his fellow partners to be the AmLaw 200 law firm's next Managing Partner. On Jan. 1, 2018, he will replace longtime Managing Partner Thomas (Tom) W. Turner, Jr., with the latter returning to full-time legal work as a partner and resuming his previous position as Team Leader of the firm's Real Estate and Environmental Team. Alessio joined Procopio's Management Committee in January 2015.

Alessio's practice focuses on complex class action, business and employment litigation. Whether in cases of trade secret misappropriation, unfair competition, shareholder and contractual disputes or cross-border issues, Alessio has achieved great results for clients of all sizes in civil trials, arbitrations and mediations. He serves in numerous community service roles in the San Diego region, including as a member of PEERS San Diego and the Entrepreneurs' Organization San Diego. A graduate of the University of San Diego (USD) School of Law and the recipient of numerous attorney recognitions, Alessio joined Procopio as a partner in 2008 after an already extensive legal career.
Alessio will assume leadership of Procopio after a 17-year run in that position by Turner. During that time Procopio has grown significantly, nearly tripling in size to more than 160 attorneys in five offices throughout the western United States and becoming the largest San Diego-based law firm. Turner continued his broad-based commercial real estate transaction practice during his tenure as managing partner and will be returning to full-time practice after the leadership transition.
