Prior to becoming the director of Aurora University's Criminal Justice program in 2012, Dial held a 45-year career in law enforcement. His tenure highlighted the importance of technology and adaptability in law enforcement. He specializes in community-oriented policing, law enforcement management, leadership, and intelligence-led policing. He teaches courses on homeland security, policing America and terrorism. He received an M.A. in Homeland Security and Defense from the US Naval Postgraduate School, an M.P.A. from the University of Colorado, and a bachelor's degree from San Jose State College. He also graduated from the Senior Management Institute for Police sponsored by the Police Executive Research Forum. He has served in leadership roles with a number of professional associations, including the International Association of Chiefs of Policy (Community Policing Committee Member), former president of Police Futurists International and former president of the DuPage County Police Chief's Association. Persuasion and Rhetoric in Today's Society

Dr. Arquette is available to discuss persuasion and rhetorical studies, which includes argumentation and debate and persuasion and consumer culture, among other topics. He specializes in strategic communication, communication research analysis, digital and social media, and interpersonal/group communication. Arquette can also speak to emerging trends in digital and social media.
Dr. Arquette is a recipient of the Miller Outstanding Dissertation Award from the National Communication Association. He is also a recipient of the Social Science Research Council Award from the IT and Global Conflict group. While a faculty member, Dr. Arquette has served as the chair of the Department of Communication, director of the Aurora University Honors Program, and chair of the Aurora University Faculty Senate. He received a Ph.D. in Communication from Northwestern University, a master's degree in communication studies from Baylor University, and a bachelor's degree in liberal arts (economics) from Wayne State University. New FINRA and State Rules Address Financial Exploitation of Senior Investors

"A new set of Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) rules – recently approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and due to go into effect early next year – along with various state laws, are addressing risks of financial exploitation of senior investors in meaningful ways. The new FINRA rules would allow broker-dealers to delay disbursements of funds or securities when elder exploitation was suspected. Under the new FINRA rules, broker-dealers also would be required to make 'reasonable efforts' to get contact information for a trusted contact person."
Hartnett, who was Missouri's Commissioner of Securities when the state passed similar rules a couple of years ago, said that a dozen or so other states have had legislation filed this year with similar proposals. Hartnett is able to discuss the new FINRA rules and how they compare to similar regulations in various states, as well as how investment firms can utilize these tools to help protect senior investors from abuse: "This is an important area nationwide for changes in the law to help protect senior investors as the senior population continues to grow and seniors are living longer lives."

Adolescents and Political Activism
