"Three things seem to be positively influencing the gold price, which is experiencing a five-week high. The price of the shiny metal seems to be benefiting from the increasingly dovish Fed and falling treasury yields, as well as the uncertainty surrounding the U.S./China trade relations and the plummeting cryptocurrency markets. Regarding interest rates, recent Fed comments didn't bode well with investors, as it seems to recognize the risk of a significant global slowdown. The recent Dow Jones drop is also a big tell that investors are unhappy with the China/U.S. trade war situation, after Trump announced a 90-day 'pause' in tariff changes until they can find an agreement. Lastly, falling crypto prices could also be sending a lot of alternative asset investors back on the 'gold train', so to speak, as the relative stability of the yellow metal's price is now being seen as a strength more than a weakness."
