Property Being Taken From Over 20 Asheboro Residents - Former NCDOT Attorneys Answer

DURHAM, N.C., Nov. 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --  "Sometimes the government doesn't value properties correctly. In fact, sometimes they miss factors that make a property a lot more valuable than they believe," according to NC Eminent Domain Law Firm attorney Stan Abrams, who formerly worked for the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

He says that, in projects like the Mack Road Extension, government appraisers are usually valuing many properties at once, under a time constraint, and that can often lead to oversights that may significantly affect how much residents receive for their property.

The Mack Road project plans to extend Mack Road from NC 49 to US 64, eliminating the current connector road.

According to the NCDOT, the purpose of this project is to "improve traffic flow, relieve congestion and increase the ability to carry projected traffic volumes on U.S. 64, N.C. 49 and Mack Road" (Meeting Notice, August 23, 2012)
