To kick off the annual initiative, EMM organized a day of giving back.  Special projects were created with local non-profits including the Community Roots Garden, where volunteers prepared compost and harvested vegetables which were then donated to local shelters and food banks; the Habitat For Humanity Restore, where employees helped to organize and clean; and the Lighthouse Rescue Mission for Women and Children, where a team painted, cleaned, and prepped the house for two incoming families.

The impact that this one day had on the lives of so many families and individuals in the local community is proof that if each person takes on the challenge to step out into their local community and spend their time enriching the lives of others; then the world becomes a better place for everyone.  All of the volunteers walked away with a renewed sense of purpose and a bond that can only come from taking the time to show others that "YOU MATTER."
