PTCB Sponsors Joint Forces Pharmacy Seminar Challenge Coin

WASHINGTON, Oct. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is proud to sponsor this year's Challenge Coin at the Joint Forces Pharmacy Seminar (JFPS) in Chattanooga, Tenn., October 18–21, 2010. JFPS is the largest annual event for the Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard pharmacy community. Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians from the active duty, reserve and retired communities, as well as civilian pharmacists and technicians assigned to the Department of Defense (DoD) and Coast Guard facilities, meet annually to share solutions to challenges facing today's Federal Pharmacy. The conference is attended by over 1,000 military and civilian personnel.

The rich history of the Challenge Coin dates back to World War I. However, the popularity of Challenge Coins has continued to spread over the last 50 years as special coins are routinely minted to express a group's unique identity and build camaraderie among its members. Today, Challenge Coins have become a highly collectible item with both military personnel and civilians, used to recognize and remember the work of our armed forces.

PTCB has certified over 383,000 technicians nationwide and is the only pharmacy technician certification endorsed by the American Pharmacists Association (APhA), the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), and the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP).  The PTCE is delivered at over 130 Pearson VUE DANTES and Base-Sponsored military test sites.
