Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation Continues Fall Fundraising Campaign with Events in Four States During October

Volunteers, Families Unite in IL, IN, NY, and PA to Raise Money and Awareness of Pulmonary Fibrosis in Their Communities

CHICAGO, Sept. 30 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (PFF) today announced its October schedule of fundraising events as part of its ongoing national campaign to raise funds for pulmonary fibrosis (PF) research, while supporting the PFF's patient education and advocacy efforts throughout the country. The PFF has seen continued expansion of its public support throughout the United States, with more than 40 local and regional fundraisers contributing greatly to the Foundation's total of more than $800,000 in gifts this year. Our September event schedule was highlighted by the Garden State 5K Run/Walk in New Jersey, held on September 18, which raised more than $20,000 in support of the PFF.

"Our patients, families, and volunteers continue to be the backbone of the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation's success," said Daniel M. Rose, MD, President of the PFF. "Cruisin' for a Cure!" Car Show (Holland, IN)

Korey Partenheimer organized this event in memory of his father, Douglas Partenheimer who passed away from PF on January 14, 2010. Douglas's passion for car shows led his son to establish this event to raise awareness and money for research. "Cruisin' for a Cure" will take place on October 2 at Holland Municipal Park at 9 a.m. Along with the classic cars there will also be a 50/50 raffle, dash plaque awards, and much more.

Hike for Lung Health (Chicago, IL)

Treasures of the South Side Bicycle Tour (Chicago, IL)

Chicago's South Shore is beautiful and historic, and so few people know its true history. One of the best ways to see and hear about them is on a bicycle. On October 9, 2010 riders will get a chance to experience what the South Shore of Chicago has to offer while raising money for research to find a cure for pulmonary fibrosis. The ride will begin at 10 am and riders will check in at the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation tent, where they will receive a t-shirt and snacks.

Belly Dancers for Charity Presents "Breathe" (New Rochelle, NY)

On October 17, 2010 local belly dancers will come together to raise money for the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in support of their friend and fellow dancer Leslie Howard. It was six years ago that Leslie was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis. There will also be a raffle with prizes that include dance and yoga gift cards, a handmade afghan, a quilted wall hanging, and custom Christmas decorations. Tickets are $30 ($25 for students/seniors), which includes a buffet lunch.

6th Annual Wescoe Walk (Center Valley, PA)

Blues Jam for PF

Join John Juul, Ari Mintz, and friends in a blues collaboration right here, near Chicago. John Juul was diagnosed with IPF and decided he was not going to let it stop him. Come out and get down with the music styling of various blues musicians from around the city. The Jam will take place on October 30, 2010 at 8:00 pm at Gabe's Backstage Lounge.
