"Financial literacy is a critical issue that needs to remain at the forefront of national conversation," said Mitch Cohen, Vice Chairman - Strategy, PwC. "This isn't just about equipping students with the basic financial skills they'll need throughout their lives. It's about building a stronger workforce for the health and competitiveness of our economy. PwC believes that it is important to engage the greater business community in this dialogue."
In April, PwC US Chairman and Senior Partner Bob Moritz is appearing in a series of ads on CNBC promoting greater attention to financial literacy for our nation's youth. PwC will also be running ads in Atlanta, Philadelphia and San Francisco.
In June 2012, PwC launched PwC's Earn Your Future, a five year, $160 million commitment to address two critical shortfalls in the US education system: financial literacy among young people and financial training opportunities for teachers. The commitment is comprised of funding, skills-based volunteering by PwC people, teacher training opportunities and curricula created by experienced educational researchers. To date, PwC's Earn Your Future has reached more than 5,800 educators and 393,000 students.
