TAMPA, Fla., June 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- PwC US, one of Tampa's largest employers, today opened a custom-designed 10-story office space in the MetWest International development, located in the heart of Tampa's Westshore business district at 4040 Boy Scout Boulevard.

PwC's new building spans 250,000 square feet and houses more than 2,000 professionals and support staff, where PwC will be the only tenant. The building also includes prominent rooftop signage that illuminates the skyline.
Signaling its faith and commitment to an exciting and thriving part of the city, PwC built the space to accommodate its future growth plans. One of the largest professional services firms in Tampa is seeing increased demand for its services and is optimistic about long-term growth prospects.
"We see a bright future in Tampa and are excited to continue our long legacy of providing quality services to our clients in the market," said Mike Quackenbush, managing partner for PwC's Tampa office. "We also plan to continue our work in the community, with a focus on helping local schools and organizations improve education and financial literacy."
The news was greeted by Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn as a good sign, not only for both PwC's role as a fixture and business leader in the city, but for job growth and the Tampa economy.
"I'm pleased that PwC has committed to stay and grow in the city of Tampa," said Mayor Buckhorn. "As the world's largest professional services firm, PwC is an important fixture in the Tampa business and philanthropic communities. We're looking forward to the firm's continued presence and contributions in making Tampa a great place to live and work."
The new office design was developed specifically for PwC based on feedback from its employees and will allow the firm to better meet current and future workplace and operational needs.
"We implemented a new workplace design that incorporates a more modern and open floor plan to enhance team collaboration and client service delivery," said Quackenbush. "As we built out the space, we placed a premium on efficiency, a concern for the environment, personal flexibility and teaming. In fact, more than 70 percent of our new space was designed specifically for collaboration."
Quackenbush also noted that the space will be attuned to today's highly mobile worker with "touch down desks" throughout all floors and advanced media sharing technologies throughout the office.
As another sign of how PwC is responding to how today's employees work, staff have access to walking workstations to promote a healthy lifestyle and interactive cafes with lounge areas to provide a space for social gatherings and team meetings.
The building also includes several environmentally-friendly attributes for which LEED Silver certification is being sought and is centrally located to a number of local restaurants, hotels and public transportation.
In selecting this space, the firm studied everything from traffic and commuting options to where its people live throughout Tampa Bay as well as where its clients are located.
In addition to this building that houses 2,000 PwC employees, the firm's Assurance and Tax Service Delivery Centers will remain at Tampa Bay Office Park on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
