Qualcomm Joins the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team as Official Technology Partner

BARCELONA, Spain, March 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) today announced that its subsidiary, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., entered a multi-year agreement with the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team to become an official technology partner. The two companies will collaborate to develop new connected car technologies to enhance the team's on-track performance, utilizing Qualcomm's expertise in mobile as the foundation for development.

Together, Qualcomm Technologies and MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS will focus on improving overall race speed and vehicle reliability, as well as operational and power efficiencies. Current and future technology projects will target real-time data transmission, sensor networks and wireless charging integration. Qualcomm branding will be featured on the Mercedes F1 W06 Hybrid car, driver attire and team apparel.
