Questar Assessment's Dr. Timothy Vansickle Awarded Association of Testing Publisher's 2016 Career Achievement Award

MINNEAPOLIS, March 30, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Questar Assessment Inc., a K–12 assessment solutions provider focused on building a bridge between learning and accountability, announced today that its Chief Academic Officer, Timothy Vansickle, Ph.D., was honored with the 2016 Career Achievement Award at the Association of Test Publishers' (ATP) Innovations in Testing Conference in Orlando, Florida.

The ATP's Career Achievement Award honors individuals who have made sustained and positive contributions to the development, application, and innovations in testing and measurement through research, publications, presentations, professional activities, technology, conceptualizations, or theoretical contributions over a career. Special attention is given to individuals whose contributions have had a broad impact on improving testing and measurement in areas of clinical, certification and licensing, education, or industrial applications.

As Questar Assessment's chief academic officer, Dr. Vansickle leads the company in the areas of policy, research, test development, psychometrics, and assessment, as well as providing training support for Questar's staff and clients. He also oversees the innovative design and development of new testing programs and item types, conducts psychometric consultation for research projects, and represents Questar on technical and policy committees. A frequent speaker and prolific writer, Dr. Vansickle is an active member of the American Counseling Association, American Educational Research Association, the American Psychological Association, the American Psychological Society, the Association of Test Publishers (ATP), and the National Council on Measurement in Education. His service to the ATP has earned him a place on the organization's Board of Directors. He also serves as the Secretary of ATP's Workforce Skills Credentialing Division.

Before joining Questar, highlights of Dr. Vansickle's nearly 30-year career included heading up standards and assessment at the United States Department of Education, serving as the director of state assessments for the Minnesota Department of Education, and holding the position of vice president and director of research and custom assessments at Riverside Publishing. Dr. Vansickle earned his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Texas A & M University, a Master of Science in Educational Psychology from Texas A & M University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota.
