Radiflow Recognized as a Representative Vendor in Gartner's Market Guide for Operational Technology Security

MAHWAH, New Jersey, Aug. 30, 2018 /PRNewswire/ – Radiflow, a leading provider of industrial cybersecurity solutions for critical infrastructure, today reported that the company has been recognized as a Representative Vendor for its industrial cybersecurity solutions in the recently published in its 2018 Market Guide for Operational Technology Security by the research and advisory firm Gartner.

Among the key findings published by Gartner in this Market Guide is that "the acceptance of OT security products by buyers is moderate, due to the mission-critical nature of OT environments, uneven levels of client maturity and pace of IT/OT integration".

"Radiflow has faced similar challenges with our customer interactions where operations managers were forced to delay the field deployment of OT security solutions due to higher operational priorities," explained Ilan Barda, CEO of Radiflow. "Recently, we interacted with an industrial enterprise that had previously abandoned a critical OT security project due to the lack of OT security experts working it its SOC, while another critical infrastructure operator that had just deployed IT firewalls to segregate its OT network did not activate its industrial deep packet inspection capabilities due to the lack of internal ICS know-how."

In this Market Guide report, Gartner recommends that "security and risk management leaders focused on industrial Internet of Things and OT security should identify key OT assets and systems, as well as potential vulnerabilities, and prioritize security processes and controls, based on recognized threats to OT and IT systems." In addition, Gartner recommends these security and risk management leaders also "conduct OT risk assessments based on security requirements in correlation with the level of maturity of your security practice and OT technology ecosystem".

In what the company sees as alignment with this recommendation, Radiflow offers a security assessment service.  Since the launch of this service last year, Radiflow has already performed dozens of security assessments, assisting the company's critical infrastructure operator customers in mapping vulnerabilities and defining a roadmap for deploying effective security measures in their OT networks.

Gartner also observes that "some major OT and IIoT system companies have entered the digital security market, primarily in providing managed services and consulting".

"We believe this is an important point," stated Barda. "Such an offering provides higher assurance to end customers that the industrial security solution will be properly deployed and integrated with their operational processes."

As part of this trend, Radiflow has established a strategic partnership with ST Engineering and has integrated its security technologies into the company's C3 SCADA system. To support such integration, Radiflow has implemented a SCADA-based north-bound interface for its security products. In addition to the integration with ST Engineering's SCADA offering, such communication is being utilized by a European power utility customer to integrate Radiflow iSID events with its GE substation RTU.

Gartner also notes that "the market for OT security technologies with cloud-based delivery is nascent; however, interest from buyers continues to grow".

"Radiflow has faced similar challenges with small and medium ICS operators," continued Barda. "To overcome this, we have engaged in a collaboration with Palo Alto Networks through its application framework program to offer our industrial threat detection system as an add-on cloud service to customers that are already use Palo Alto firewalls."
