Rasmussen College Employees And Students Give Back During Community Service Day

MINNEAPOLIS, July 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Rasmussen College is committed to changing the lives of its students every day, but the College is also dedicated to making the communities in which it serves a better place to live, grow and learn. On Friday, July 19, 2013, approximately 1,400 Rasmussen College employees from its 24 campuses and three central offices will participate in the fifth annual Rasmussen College Community Service Day. Rasmussen College students have also been encouraged to volunteer their time at nearly three dozen organizations across six states.

Rasmussen College, a regionally accredited private college, has 24 campuses throughout the Midwest and Florida. The College has a long history of giving back to the communities it serves. Both employees and students have been recognized nationally for their partnerships with local businesses and volunteerism at various nonprofits and organizations. During this year's Rasmussen College Community Service Day, employees and students will perform a wide variety of tasks such as painting, cleaning, yard work, picking up trash, organizing donated items, stocking shelves, packing meals and spending time with youth.

At this year's Community Service Day, Rasmussen College employees from the eight Minnesota campuses and Twin Cities Central Office will volunteer their time with Feed My Starving Children, Boys and Girls Club of the Twin Cities, Volunteers Enlisted to Assist People (VEAP), 360 Communities, Relay for Life of Blue Earth County, United Way of Central Minnesota, Tubman, Presbyterian Homes, Chisago Lakes High School and the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

In Illinois, the four campuses, as well as employees from the Chicago Central Office, will be working with the Northern Illinois Food Bank, Cornerstone Services, Aunt Martha's Youth Service Center and Health Center, Alpine Kiwanis Club and the Wood Dale/Itasca Reservoir.

The two North Dakota campuses will be partnering with the United Way Bismarck-Mandan and Churches United for the Homeless.

Employees and students from the three Wisconsin campuses will be teaming up with Chances Animal Rescue, Boys' and Girls' Brigade, North Central Health Care, Marathon County Health Department, Happily Ever After, Cerebral Palsy Center and Freedom House Ministries.

In Florida, employees from the six various campuses and Orlando Central Office will volunteer their time at Harvest Time International, Metropolitan Ministries, American Cancer Society, PACE Center for Girls of Lee County, Dress for Success Southwest Florida, Suncoast Harvest Food Bank, Marion County Literacy Council and the Florida Department of Transportation.

And for the first time Rasmussen College's two newest campuses in Kansas will participate in the College's Community Service Day. Employees and students will team up with the Children's Miracle Network and the Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens.
