MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Rasmussen College, a regionally accredited private college, today announced its expanding enrollment for its Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program (http://www.rasmussen.edu/degrees/nursing/master-science-nursing/) to Florida. The fully online master's degree program is designed to meet the increasing need for nurses that can demonstrate knowledge and skills to lead change, promote health and elevate care in various roles and settings, with a focus on leadership and administration or education.
According to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, nearly 70,000 qualified nursing candidates were turned away from college nursing programs due to an insufficient number of faculty in 2014. Occupations requiring master's degrees are also projected to grow 18.4 percent through 2022, and of the 448,500 jobs projected to require a master's degree, 255,000 are within the healthcare and social assistance fields. Enrollment for the Rasmussen College MSN degree program in Florida is immediately available with classes beginning in April.
"We are thrilled to expand enrollment for our online Master of Science in Nursing degree program to Florida – a state where Rasmussen College has a strong local presence with five campuses across the Tampa Bay area, Ocala and Southwest Florida," said Dr. Joan Rich, vice president of the Rasmussen College School of Nursing. "Florida, like much of the country, is seeing an increasing need for nurses with graduate education. Our MSN degree prepares nurses for situations that require critical action within complex and changing systems, including healthcare and nursing education. According to labor analytics firm Burning Glass, there have been around 6,100 job postings over the past year in Florida for nurses with a graduate or professional degree. That's up more than 245 percent from five years ago. Rasmussen College is pleased to soon be able to help fill open positions across Florida as well as contribute to the advancement of the nursing profession."
Rasmussen College MSN to Help Advance Nursing Profession
The Rasmussen College Master of Science in Nursing degree program is designed to prepare currently licensed registered nurses (RNs) who hold a baccalaureate degree in nursing to assume advanced nursing leadership roles and directly contribute to the advancement of the nursing profession in both educational and healthcare settings. Students have the opportunity to choose from two specializations: Nursing Education or Nursing Leadership and Administration.
The innovative and progressive curriculum is designed to help students unleash their potential and thrive as dynamic leaders. Content ranges from budgeting, scheduling and administration to instructional techniques, curriculum design and innovative teaching and assessment strategies. Classes include interactive learning as well as collaboration among peers and faculty that aligns with the evolving healthcare and education environments of today. The online environment and ability to take one class at a time also supports balance between school, work and family for nurses already in the field while still allowing them to graduate in a few as 18 months.1
"Our MSN students will be prepared to impact the current and future state of the healthcare industry," Rich said. "Students will graduate from our program with the confidence they need to be at the forefront of change and innovation for the nursing profession, nursing education and the communities we serve."
Rasmussen College first launched its Master of Science in Nursing degree program in October 2016.2 The MSN program is now available for enrollment in 37 states. To learn more about the MSN program, visit http://www.rasmussen.edu/degrees/nursing/master-science-nursing/.
