HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Feb. 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company's (NYSE: RTN) Missile Systems business received the Manufacturer of the Year award from the Business Council of Alabama during a ceremony in Montgomery. The award recognizes the Raytheon Redstone Missile Integration Facility for manufacturing excellence.
"Our Huntsville team utilizes automation and technological advancements to produce the most effective and reliable missiles for our domestic and international customers," said Dr. Taylor W. Lawrence, Raytheon Missile Systems president. "This award further validates our attention to detail and our commitment to innovation that began long before we broke ground for this facility in 2011. We are honored to be recognized by the Business Council of Alabama for our innovative manufacturing processes."
At the cutting-edge factory located on the U.S. Army's Redstone Arsenal, technicians complete final assembly and testing of Standard Missile-3 and SM-6 interceptors. The missiles move inside the facility on special vehicles. These laser-guided transports handle all hardware moves necessary, allowing technicians to concentrate on other aspects of production.
