Raytheon Releases New Corporate Responsibility Report

WALTHAM, Mass., May 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) released its 2010 Corporate Responsibility Report, highlighting the company's recent efforts in the areas of governance; ethics; engineering, technology and Mission Assurance; diversity; safety and wellness; sustainability; and community support. Here are some highlights of the new Raytheon Corporate Responsibility Report:

• Governance: Raytheon continues to be a leader in contemporary governance practices with a consistent focus on independent board oversight, accountability, transparency, and open and proactive communication with our constituents. For example, the company adopted provisions in 2010 allowing shareholders holding 25 percent or more of the company's stock to call a special shareholder meeting.
• Ethics: Raytheon's comprehensive ethics program nurtures and supports the company's values and commitment to a culture of integrity. In the company's 2010 Employee Opinion Survey, the relevance and usefulness of ethics education was favorably rated by the vast majority of respondents. Ethics education is delivered to employees in a number of ways, including "Ethics Checkpoint" sessions in which employees learn to pause, take an ethics check, and then proceed with the best course of action.  
• Engineering, Technology and Mission Assurance: Raytheon's ET&MA organization provides innovative technology solutions to meet customer needs, including Raytheon's Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer that helped the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration keep tabs on the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico and provided daily images of ash plumes from the Eyjafjallajokull volcano in Iceland.
• Diversity: Diversity at Raytheon is about inclusiveness, providing an atmosphere where everyone feels valued and empowered to perform at a peak level.
