Acquisition adds Periodontal health testing to Real Diagnostics' molecular diagnostic laboratory offering for dental providers.

REISTERSTOWN, Md., Oct. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Real Diagnostics, a CLIA-certified clinical laboratory specializing in high-complexity molecular infectious disease and toxicology testing, today announced it has acquired SimplyTest^®, a leading provider of saliva-based diagnostic tests for oral health. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Real Diagnostics is a portfolio company of HCAP Partners, a California-based private equity firm and nationally recognized impact investor.

SimplyTest's flagship product PERIO, uses a proprietary non-invasive swish-and-spit saliva sample to identify key periodontal pathogens, providing clinicians organism-level data to personalize therapy and monitor patient periodontal health over time.

Real Diagnostics offers high-complexity PCR-based (molecular) testing in urinary tract and sexually transmitted infections, vaginosis, respiratory and toxicology. Real Diagnostics combines micro-lab capabilities and molecular testing to provide phenotypic antibiotic resistance analysis, giving medical providers key insights into patient and pathogen specific antibiotic treatment options that optimize patient outcomes and antibiotic stewardship objectives.  Adding the SimplyTest^® PERIO product extends the Real Diagnostics portfolio into oral health and broadens the range of provider types Real Diagnostic will now serve, including dental practices.
