Real Medicine Foundation Joins Health eVillages Collaborative Coalition to Aid Nepal Earthquake Victims

READING, Mass., May 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Health eVillages, a program founded by global healthcare activist Donato Tramuto and Physicians Interactive in partnership with the not-for-profit Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights organization, today announced that its Collaborative Coalition will be working with the Real Medicine Foundation (RMF) to provide relief to victims of Nepal's devastating earthquake. The Coalition includes partners MedHelp^®, WelVU^™, Univadis^® and The Tramuto Foundation.

To kick off the Nepal earthquake relief campaign, Health eVillages and Physicians Interactive have made a significant donation to RMF. In addition, they are working in tandem with the Coalition partners to drive digital outreach, awareness and online donations to the RMF Nepal Earthquake Donations fund.   

Anyone interested in making an online donation in support of the Collaborative Coalition's relief efforts for Nepal can do so through the RMF's Nepal Earthquake Donations web page. 100% of all contributions designated for Nepal will be used exclusively for earthquake relief efforts. Since the RMF is registered as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit public charity organization with the IRS, all donations are tax deductible. Nepalese officials state that more than 8,400 people are confirmed dead from the 7.8 magnitude earthquake. The worst earthquake to hit Nepal in 80 years, it struck the central part of the country between Kathmandu and the city of Pokhara early on Saturday, April 25^th.  It also affected regions in India and China.

Donations made on behalf of the coalition to the RMF will be used to support the operations of a mobile hospital and provide supplies for treating trauma victims and operating blood banks. They will also be used for tents and tarps, generators, solar cell electrical solutions, satellite phones and water filtration systems.

The goal of the Health eVillages Collaborative Coalition is to support global relief efforts through mobile- and web-based applications that provide HCPs with practical clinical knowledge, as well as data to help reassure patients and reduce panic during natural disasters and public health responses. Coalition members decided to expand their support efforts to include financial donations for the Real Medicine Foundation in response to the Nepal earthquake.

The Collaborative Coalition was initially established in October 2014 in response to the Ebola outbreak. Since then, Coalition members have worked together to share information on Ebola throughout the world, delivering targeted communications on the disease to more than one million US consumers and 3.3 million HCPs in 36 countries.
