Rebates-On: At 69 Percent of Target, a Partner Earns Nothing. At 70 Percent, the Rebate Turns On

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Four out of five IT solution providers doubled their rebate income within three to four quarters of acting on that line.

Some major PC vendors run programs that begin paying only above 70 percent of target, so a partner sitting at 69 percent earns nothing on those elements, according to Rebates-On, a multi-vendor rebate and incentive platform built for the partner rather than the vendor.

A product manager will not always invest the time and effort to calculate and monitor where the purchases are against the 69 percent, and no vendor calls to say that, at this moment, a few more units bought for inventory would double the rebate.

Other programs cap the reward at 150 percent of target. A partner who has already hit that 150 percent cap can be better off holding an order for two or three days and placing it in the next period.

Rebates-On examined most of its leading customers, large-scale partners that joined in different years. They entered at an average rebate yield of 1.2 to 1.8 percent of purchases.

Three to four quarters after implementation, four out of five had roughly doubled their rebate income. Today the average multi-vendor rebate yield across the company's customers stands above 3.5 percent.

These are micro-level decisions that a human brain struggles to track in real time. Product and alliance managers understand vendor programs thoroughly.

Their job is to support business opportunities, customers and deals, to manage deal registration, and to keep certifications and compliance in order. The tracking, analysis, calculations, alerts and actions are work for software, freeing these managers to focus on the business.

On a vendor line where the partner buys $10 million a year, lifting rebate yield from 1.5 percent to 3 percent is worth about $150,000 net a year, against a Rebates-On license that costs a fraction of that.

On a line five times that size, the return can reach about 50 times.
