Record number of bidders compete for equipment in Ritchie Bros. Atlanta auction
2,100+ bidders, including 1,100+ online bidders, compete for 1,900+ equipment items
ATLANTA, GA, Sept. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - More than 2,100 people from 45 countries registered to bid at a multi-million dollar public unreserved auction conducted by Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers (NYSE and TSX: RBA) in Atlanta, GA on September 22, 2010. Ritchie Bros., the world's largest industrial auctioneer, set new company records for most registered bidders and most registered online bidders at an Atlanta auction. More than 1,100 of the 2,100 bidders registered to bid online in real time at www.rbauction.com
The 2,100+ registered bidders competed for 1,900+ heavy equipment items and trucks, including 175+ items consigned by Newnan, GA-based Setco Grading LLC, which is a division of Thomas Enterprises Inc., a Georgia-based real estate development company founded in 1987.
"This was definitely one of the best selections of equipment I have ever seen in my ten years with Ritchie Bros., and every item was sold to the highest bidders on auction day - as always. As a result we had a record number of bidders," said Darrin Hogeboom, Regional Manager, Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers. "The Setco Grading LLC package, which included lots of late model, low hour equipment, specifically generated lots of attention - not only from bidders from the state of Georgia, or even the US, but the entire world."
The Setco Grading consignment in the Atlanta auction was part of a major company realignment that also included consignments in two other Ritchie Bros. auctions in 2010-Orlando, FL (on August 18) and Houston, TX (on August 26 - 27). The Setco equipment sold in the September 22 Atlanta auction included ten 2007 Peterbilt 379 twin-axle dump trucks, six 2006 Caterpillar 621G motor scrapers and six Caterpillar D6N LGP crawler tractors, as well as 12 hydraulic excavators, eight articulated dump trucks and six compactors.
Other equipment sold in the Atlanta auction included 65+ forklifts, 55+ skid steer loaders, 40+ mini excavators, 20+ midi excavators and a wide variety of trucks and trailers. Equipment was purchased by buyers from as far away as Australia, Hong Kong, India, Lebanon, Nigeria, Peru, Saudi Arabia, Trinidad and Tobago and Vietnam.
There are more than 90 upcoming public unreserved auctions on Ritchie Bros.' auction calendar at www.rbauction.com, including the next Atlanta auction scheduled for December 2010.
