Record-setting pipeline equipment auction set for September

On September 28 – 29, Ritchie Bros. will sell 160+ pipelayers and more in Columbus, OH

COLUMBUS, OH, July 28, 2016 /PRNewswire/ - On September 28 – 29, two of the longest-running pipeline companies in the United States will be selling their entire fleets. More than 160 pipelayers, along with massive dozers and support equipment, will be sold by unreserved auction in Columbus, OH, by the world's largest industrial auctioneer: Ritchie Bros.

This will be Ritchie Bros.' largest-ever pipeline equipment auction, with the majority of the inventory coming from Sheehan Pipeline Construction Company, in operation for 100+ years, and Oliver Pipe & Equipment Inc., with the owner retiring after 85+ years. The auction also features a major fleet realignment from J-Wood Pipeline Services.

"There's only been two or three auctions like this in my 37 years in this business—it's an excellent opportunity for buyers," said Robert Riess, President & CEO of Sheehan. "The pipeline industry is a small niche group of friends and competitors and I think there will be many people very interested in these assets."

There are currently more than 1,300 equipment items and trucks listed to be sold, with no minimum bids or reserve prices. Bids can be placed in person, online in real time and by proxy.
