Young Men's and Women's Programs Feature Clinical, Educational Programming Focused on Specific Gender, Age Needs

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., Jan. 22, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Recovery Centers of America (RCA), an addiction treatment provider focused on saving one million lives from addiction, announced today the launch of gender-specific programming designed to help young men and women suffering from substance use disorder progress toward recovery.

The new Young Men's and Women's Programs, which will be available at the Devon (Pennsylvania) and Bracebridge Hall (Maryland) inpatient facilities beginning in January 2018, build upon traditional clinical curriculum and treatment methodology and are intended to engage young men and women in an environment that focuses on their distinct learning and comprehension styles.

The enhanced programs are scheduled to be implemented at all Recovery Centers of America facilities throughout 2018.

"Studies show that young adults are one of the most vulnerable populations when it comes to substance use disorder," said Scott Weisenberger, Vice President of Clinical Services. "We must do everything we can to help young men and women transition from a life of addiction to a life of recovery as soon as possible."

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, about 5.4 million young adults aged 18 to 25 needed treatment for a substance use problem in the past year (2015). This means that 15.5 percent of, or 1 in 6, young adults need substance use treatment.

The program is centered around providing a clinical curriculum that is hyper-targeted to the needs and concerns of young people while minimizing distractions. The program is taught in a dynamic format with short sessions to keep patients engaged and attentive, addressing and accommodating the pace of modern life.

The Young Men's Program is tailored to meet the needs of men between the ages of 18 and 34, while the Young Women's Program is specifically designed for women between the ages of 18 and 28. Each program consists of gender- and age-specific accommodations, as well as clinical therapy sessions to address common treatment concerns and non-clinical activities and educational seminars to aid in personal and professional development. The programs are operated by clinicians and staff members who are trained and credentialed to meet the specific needs of each demographic.

In addition to the core clinical curriculum, the Young Men's and Women's programs also focus on teaching and developing life skills to help patients along their way to independence. Discussions and training sessions center around making positive life choices on subjects such as housing, budgeting and personal finance, employment, education, cooking, physical health, and social skills and life supports.
