CHICAGO, Sept. 9, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- In a bold step toward transforming its child welfare system, the Kansas Department for Children and Families (DCF) has selected RedMane Technology LLC to lead the design, development, and implementation of a new, state-of-the-art Comprehensive Child Welfare Information System (CCWIS). The $44 million contract is part of a $100 million initiative to build a more responsive, integrated, and person-centered child welfare system that puts children and families first.
RedMane will deploy its mCase platform—a modern, cloud-native solution purpose-built for human services—to streamline workflows, connect systems, and equip frontline workers with real-time tools to make faster, better-informed decisions. The new CCWIS will replace outdated DCF technologies with a single, connected platform to improve communication between caseworkers, families, community providers, schools, courts, and law enforcement.
"This is more than a technology upgrade—it's a mission-driven transformation," said Tony Lakier, CEO of RedMane Technology. "Kansas is investing in a future where children are safer, families are stronger, and caseworkers are supported with tools that truly work for them. We are proud to bring our experience and passion for human services to help make that future a reality."
When fully implemented, the system will deliver:
- A unified, mobile-enabled platform for child welfare and adult protective services staff
- Intuitive case management tools to reduce administrative burden and increase time with families
- Real-time analytics and dashboards to flag emerging risks and support better decision-making
- Seamless integration with schools, courts, healthcare, and law enforcement partners
- Full compliance with federal CCWIS standards and support for continuous improvement
The total $100 million project will span four years, jointly funded by the State General Fund and Federal Title IV-E dollars. RedMane's contract includes renewal options and long-term support to ensure sustainability and evolution over time.
Implementation work begins immediately, with a rollout ensuring that services to Kansas families remain uninterrupted while the new system is built.
