OLATHE, Kan., Oct. 12, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- A team from RedStone Logistics, a third-party logistics (3PL) provider headquartered in Olathe, Kansas, won the Best Environmental Performance award at the 2026 Sustainability World Cup. The team was also named a finalist in the overall program. According to co-founder Edmund Bradford, it is the first time the competition has given an award to a team from Mexico.
RedStone entered three teams. Julio Elias and Evelin Mendez competed from Mexico, Anna Thompson and Hassan Amirzai competed from the United States, and Ernesto Vasquez and Felipe Gonzalez competed from Colombia.

"We're incredibly proud of all three of our teams," said Duncan Hopewood, Vice President of Solutions Engineering at RedStone Logistics. "Winning Best Environmental Performance against teams from around the world, and being the first team from Mexico to win an award, shows the talent we have across RedStone. Sustainability is part of how we serve our customers, and our people showed that it can also be a competitive advantage."
Leading Lawa to an Award
The team from Mexico ran Lawa, a fictional beverage company that sold a cold drink and a soft drink. The team managed product development, marketing, sustainability, employee wellbeing, and finances as market conditions changed.
The team invested 60% of its annual budget in the first period to build momentum, then spent the remaining 40% in the second period as it adapted to the market and competitors. Its focus on environmental performance earned it the award.
"We came out with a much clearer view of how every decision shows up in results, from where the budget goes to how you treat your people and the planet," said Evelin Mendez, Logistics Engineer at RedStone Logistics. "Seeing competitors react in real time taught us how fast a strategy has to adapt."
The U.S. team, which ran a fictional company selling a cold drink and a hot drink, finished sixth overall.
Sustainability in Practice
The award reflects a commitment RedStone puts into practice every day. RedStone has been an EPA SmartWay Logistics Company Partner since 2023. The program helps companies measure, benchmark, and improve freight efficiency to reduce their environmental footprint.
