Regal Entertainment Group Announces Grand Opening Celebration for Regal Carlsbad 12

KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Dec. 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Regal Entertainment Group (NYSE: RGC), a leading motion picture exhibitor owning and operating the largest theatre circuit in the United States, is celebrating the grand opening of Carlsbad 12 north of San Diego, California. Activities include preview events Sunday, December 7 through Tuesday, December 9 with $3 movies, popcorn and soft drinks to benefit local charities. The official grand opening will be Thursday, December 11 with first-run feature films including Exodus: Gods and Kings. Moviegoers who belong to the Regal Crown Club will also enjoy free popcorn and soft drinks with each paid admission Thursday, December 11, through Wednesday, December 17.

The preview events include recently released films with themed days where all proceeds benefit local charities. On Sunday, December 7, the theme is "Regal Family Fun Day," benefiting Toys for Tots including recent family-friendly film selections. On Monday, December 8 "Regal's Recipe for Hope" features some food-focused films benefiting the San Diego Food Bank. Tuesday, December 9 benefits the San Diego Humane Society with holiday films for a day entitled "Take a Pet Home for the Holidays." During the three days of preview events, all movies will be $3 with proceeds benefiting the respective charities. During these fundraising days, small soft drinks and small popcorn are only a $3 donation each.

The Regal Crown Club is the number one theatre loyalty program in the country, allowing patrons to accumulate credits at the box office and concession stand to earn free popcorn, soft drinks and movies.  Free membership is available at the theatre or online. Available at all new and existing Regal Entertainment Group theatres is a cutting-edge technology, the Sony Entertainment Access System, to assist moviegoers who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind or low vision. The system includes specially designed lightweight eyewear for guests who are deaf or hard of hearing to privately view closed captioned text directly in their line of sight for both 2D and 3D movies. This assistive technology also includes a wireless receiver that provides access to descriptive audio tracks via a pair of headsets for guests who are blind or have low vision. The access glasses and audio headsets allow moviegoers to individually enjoy the cinema experience in a relaxed, natural way without the inconvenience of separate screening times or special seating.

Guests desiring such accommodations need only request the Sony Entertainment Access System from any manager.  Captions and descriptive audio can only be accessed by use of this equipment and it is not available to other moviegoers.  To select films offering this service, online showtimes will note: "Accessibility devices available."
