SUN VALLEY, Calif., Oct. 10, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Search and Rescue teams will resume operations on Saturday, October 11, in the ongoing effort to locate Michael Kocabay, who remains missing. This renewed mission will deploy human remains detection K9 units and additional resources to meticulously examine areas previously considered less likely, ensuring that no possibility is left uninvestigated.
The search will begin sometime after 8:00 a.m. and will focus on Little Tujunga Canyon in Sun Valley, CA, within the Angeles National Forest—a region known for its rugged terrain, winding trails, and limited accessibility. Key landmarks in the area include the USFS Little Tujunga Fire Station, Blue Tap Training Center, and Scott Lico Stables. The decision to revisit this location underscores the unwavering commitment to exhaust every lead with precision and care.
Earlier this week, a cellphone ping was detected near the area where Michael was last seen. Upon review, the head of Search and Rescue determined the data to be outdated. Despite this setback, the resolve to find Michael remains steadfast.
"We are exhausting every avenue to bring answers to Michael's family," said Moses Castillo, retired LAPD Detective Supervisor and CEO of Moses Castillo Investigations. "Tomorrow's search reflects our determination to rule out all possibilities and continue the pursuit of truth with compassion and diligence."
