Report Finds Evidence of Widespread Vote Manipulation in North Carolina

LAS VEGAS, Aug. 27, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- A newly-released report has identified statistical evidence of widespread vote manipulation in the 2024 North Carolina election of sufficient magnitude to potentially change the outcome of the Presidential race for that state. The report, authored by the non-partisan non-profit Election Truth Alliance (ETA), is based on analysis of publicly-available election data.

"The methodologies we use are grounded in the work of election forensics experts at home and abroad," said Nathan Taylor, the ETA's Executive Director of Public Outreach. "Our work is also informed by the specific election security context in the state."

The report highlights that in 2024, in 93% of North Carolina counties, votes were cast and counted on machines that did not receive full certification testing. Additionally, vote-counting tabulators had to be recoded last-minute after Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. exited from the race.

Patterns consistent with vote manipulation were identified through three analysis methods:

• Down-Ballot Difference: Compares Presidential results with down-ballot results from the same party. Even excluding unique local factors, such as a controversial Gubernatorial candidate, on average Trump received 5.5% more votes than down-ballot Republicans while Harris received 1.8% fewer votes than down-ballot Democrats. This trend was more extreme on Election Day than Early Voting.
  
  
• Vote Share by Vote Count: Examines the percentage of votes that candidates received across different polling places relative to how many votes were cast at those locations. In Forsyth County Early Voting, in precincts with between 500-1000 early votes, Trump received, on average, between 19-29% of the vote. In precincts with between 2500-3000 early votes, however, Trump received, on average, 52-54% of the vote.
  
  
• Turnout Analysis: Examines the number of votes that candidates received across different polling places relative to the percentage of registered voters who turned out to vote at that location. In both Early Voting and Election Day votes, Trump appears to benefit disproportionately and unexpectedly in polling places with unusually high voter turnout – creating trends consistent with international expectations for what a manipulated election looks like.

Patterns consistent with vote manipulation were identified across more vote types and a greater proportion of North Carolina votes than in past analyses of Pennsylvania or Nevada. Early Voting and Election Day votes account for 92.4% of votes cast in North Carolina.

"We're calling on state and local election officials in North Carolina to advocate for and undertake full hand audits of paper voting records," said Lilli McGregor, the ETA's Executive Director of Communication and Operations. "For the 2024 election, but also for future North Carolina elections — including the 2026 Midterms."

The goal of this exercise is to ensure that paper ballot records match machine-reported vote totals, and that results as reported were not manipulated – electronically or otherwise.

"Future elections must be safeguarded," said McGregor. "The potential harm that could come from leaving an election unverified is far greater than the work it takes to conduct a hand-recount and verify the results."
