Retale Expands Executive Team, Names Nels Stromborg as Executive Vice President of Sales
CHICAGO, Aug. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Retale (www.retale.com), the leading location-based shopping platform aggregating weekly circulars from over 110 top line retailers for mobile and digital devices, today announced that veteran media executive and online retail sales strategist Nels Stromborg has been appointed executive vice president of sales in North America.
Mr. Stromborg, a digital executive with more than 20 years experience developing innovative online media sales strategies, is charged with driving revenue, and increasing overall engagement with major retailers in the US. Working closely with Retale Vice President of U.S. Sales Gerry Joyce, President Patrice Dermody, and the company's global executive team in Berlin, he will also provide tactical, strategic and field sales leadership for an already dynamic and growing team.
"Nels will play a key role as we continue to cultivate existing relationships and bring a strong digital perspective to our on-going development," said Ms. Dermody. "We are excited to have him on board as we continue to build on the strong foundation we have already established."
Retale is the U.S.-based operations of Bonial International Group, a global network for location-based shopping information. The company replicates the print circular experience for consumers in a digital format for both mobile and online users, while providing new functionality that can't be incorporated into print.
Currently, over 110 retailers have joined the Retale platform including Target, Kohl's, Toys "R" Us, Pet Supplies Plus and hhgregg. With a presence in Berlin, Munich, Paris, Barcelona, Moscow and São Paulo, Bonial has more than 13 million users worldwide and 300 employees.
Prior to joining Retale, Mr. Stromborg held several key strategic positions with multinational companies where he successfully built highly effective sales teams that continually registered substantial revenue growth. As Retail and QSR Category Sales Director at AOL, he successfully led the division's business planning process and developed a comprehensive scaled sales strategy across multiple business segments.
Mr. Stromborg followed up his successful tenure at AOL as vice president of sales for digital advertising company Undertone, where he led the Midwest (Detroit, Chicago, Minneapolis) Texas, and West Coast sales teams.
"Nels is a phenomenal addition to the leadership team and brings years of experience in rapidly growing sales at a national scale," Christian Gaiser, CEO of Bonial International Group. "His strong digital experience will add value to our discussions with retailers as they continue to drive innovation in an omni-channel environment."
Using Retale, shoppers can page through the digital version of circulars as they normally would, but also can search by product or retailer, brand or store, access store locations and store hours, create shopping lists, generate alerts for items, share deals with friends on social media, and even view videos and other product information.
"Retale's location-based service is providing new and more nuanced opportunities to reach circular readers migrating from print to digital, as well as a new generation of shoppers who are more likely to shop using their mobile devices or tablets," said Mr. Stromborg. "I'm excited to be a part of such a dynamic team focused on helping our retail partners deliver relevant content in an efficient and effective way to the growing legions mobile consumers."
An Illinois native, Mr. Stromborg earned a Bachelor of Science degree in International Relations and Economics at American University in Washington, D.C.
Bonial opened its U.S. headquarters in Chicago in 2013. After launching the Retale app in October, it was downloaded one million times in just 78 days. Today more than 2 million consumers have downloaded the Retale app.
