Revival of Old Murray Street Website for the 25th Anniversary of 9/11

A story for children of hope, healing and recovery first launched in 2002 for the first anniversary.

NEW YORK, Sept. 9, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- In 2002, for the first anniversary of 9/11, the educational website "Old Murray Street" (OldMurrayStreet.org) was launched, featuring a 'child's-eye-view' story of the rebuilding of Ground Zero. It was intended to help - children especially - cope with the aftermath of 9/11, stirred up by the anniversary media coverage.

A version of the site is being revived for the twenty-fifth anniversary of the event: for whatever comfort it might provide; to honor those who helped rebuild ground zero; and, as an historical artifact of that time.

In addition to the story our on-line materials for students, parents and teachers (including a teacher's guide) can be found at OldMurrayStreet.org.

A small text-only booklet was published in 2002. A handful remain, for those who are interested.
