RiceBran Technologies Hires VP of Compliance, Regulatory and External Affairs

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., May 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- RiceBran Technologies (NASDAQ: RIBT) (RIBTW) (the "Company" or "RBT") a global leader in the production and marketing of value added products derived from rice bran, today announced the appointment of Ms. Janet Balson as Vice President of Compliance, Regulatory and External Affairs for RiceBran Technologies.  

Ms. Balson comes to RBT with extensive compliance, regulatory and external affairs experience in the food industry having most recently served as Regulatory Affairs Manager at Chr. Hansen Inc. for the past eight years.  Ms. Balson also worked in regulatory affairs at Kerry Ingredients. She received her B.A. in Biology and Biochemistry from Beloit College and her Master of Science in Food Safety from Michigan State University. She currently serves as President of the Enzyme Technical Association, Vice Chair of the International Food Additive Council, is a professional member of the Institute of Food Technologists and a member of the Food Ingredients Expert Committee of the Food Chemical Codex.

In her role as Vice President of Compliance, Regulatory and External Affairs, Ms. Balson will report directly to the RiceBran Technologies CEO & President W. John Short.  She will also join the RBT Senior Management Committee.
