RiceBran Technologies Signs Agreements with The Jack Brewer Foundation and Brewer + Associates Consulting

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., May 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- RiceBran Technologies (NASDAQ: RIBT and RIBTW) (the "Company" or "RBT"), a global leader in the production and marketing of value added products derived from rice bran, announced today that it has entered into two agreements:  a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with non-profit The Jack Brewer Foundation (JBF Worldwide) to develop rice bran based supplemental feeding programs currently assisted by JBF Worldwide at orphanages in Malawi and Haiti; and a business development agreement with Brewer + Associates Consulting, LLC (B+A) to collaborate on the planned launch of a new line of sports nutrition products with a portion of profits earmarked to provide rice bran based meal supplements for feeding programs covered by the MOU.

The launch of these initiatives will be announced on Friday, May 6th at the United Nations Headquarters in New York during a panel discussion on food security and food safety, surrounding the exhibition titled "We Are What We Eat".  The panel discussion begins at 6:00 pm EDT to be followed by a reception.

As part of the MOU, RBT and JBF Worldwide will cooperate with non-profits and international agencies to conduct feeding trials at orphanages in Malawi and Haiti supported by JBF Worldwide to further document the well-known health benefits of meal supplementation with rice bran based products.  RBT and B+A will also collaborate to launch a range of sports nutrition products developed and manufactured by RBT using its proprietary and patented ingredients including pre/post-workout powdered beverages, a healthy green meal replacement, and a two-product body-mass builder.  The companies expect to launch this new sports nutrition business in late 2016 or early 2017.
