Ritchie Bros. to conduct unreserved public auction in San Antonio, TX on April 1
Company looks to increase number of auctions in the region
SAN ANTONIO, TX, March 17 /PRNewswire/ - Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers (NYSE: RBA) (TSX: RBA), the world's largest industrial auctioneer, will conduct an unreserved public auction in San Antonio, Texas on April 1, 2011 starting at 9:00 a.m. The auction, to be held at 9702 IH 10 East in Converse, TX, will feature 250+ heavy equipment items and trucks from several consignors, including Hunter Industries and Olmos Construction. Bids on items can be made in person at the auction site, online in real time at www.rbauction.com or by proxy.
Ritchie Bros. has conducted a total of eight auctions in San Antonio, Texas since holding the Company's first auction there in 1983—four of these auctions have been conducted since 2007. The last San Antonio auction, held in October of last year, attracted more than 750 bidders from 26 countries. In total, San Antonio auctions have attracted 2,600+ registered bidders over the years, generating approximately US$13.8 million in gross auction proceeds.
"We've been developing our presence in the San Antonio area since 2007 with at least one to two unreserved auctions a year," said Alan McVicker, Regional Manager, Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers. "Recently, we signed a lease on the Converse property and plan to hold two auctions this year and possibly three auctions next year at the site. This will allow our customers in the area to sell their equipment closer to home while still reaching local and global bidders."
In addition to conducting unreserved auctions at its 43 auction sites worldwide, Ritchie Bros. provides full auction services to all consignors at offsite auctions, including in this region where there is strong demand. In 2010, off-site auctions accounted for approximately 25 percent of the total number of industrial auctions conducted by the Company, generating approximately US$221 million in gross auction proceeds.
Equipment highlights in the April 1 San Antonio, TX auction include 15+ wheel loaders, motor graders, rock trucks, water wagons, pressure washers, crawler tractors, crawler loaders, pulverizers, rough terrain forklifts and a selection of transportation equipment. Each item will be sold to the highest bidder—regardless of price—with no minimum bids or reserve prices.
