Ritchie Bros. to sell hundreds of ex-FEMA camper trailers in unreserved Fort Worth public auction
More than 70 camper trailers are in the yard now; hundreds more to arrive before auction day
FORT WORTH, TX, June 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers (NYSE and TSX: RBA), the world's largest industrial auctioneer, will be conducting a two-day multi-million dollar unreserved public equipment auction at its permanent auction site in Fort Worth, Texas from July 15-16, 2010. The auction will feature more than 1,200 equipment items, including hundreds of late-model camper trailers being sold on July 16. Equipment is still being added daily. Every item will be sold to the highest bidder - regardless of price - with no minimum bids or reserve prices. More information about the Fort Worth public auction, including full equipment photos and details, is available at www.rbauction.com.
More than 70 camper trailers are already lined up in the Fort Worth auction yard, with hundreds more expected to arrive at the Fort Worth site starting July 6. These trailers were previously owned by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) and used to provide temporary shelter to victims of Hurricane Katrina. Thousands of these trailers were then purchased by a third party and more than 1,000 were consigned to Ritchie Bros. to be sold by unreserved auction. More than five hundred of these camper trailers were successfully sold by Ritchie Bros. in the Company's Houston, TX auction on June 9-10, 2010.
The Houston auction attracted more than 2,800 bidders from 32 countries, including 31 US states and all ten Canadian provinces. Approximately 30 percent of the trailers sold in the Houston auction were purchased by online bidders.
"The trailers in our Houston public auction attracted a large crowd of bidders on auction day who came from all over to buy them - many were first-time bidders who had never actually been to a Ritchie Bros. unreserved auction before," said Adam Kawulok, Area Manager, Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers. "The Forth Worth auction will provide buyers, who missed out purchasing one of these trailers in Houston, an opportunity to do so at a price they're willing to pay. There will be a lot of selection to choose from and every item sells unreserved, without minimums or reserve prices. Every item sells on auction day to the highest bidder, regardless of price. We encourage interested bidders to come to the site before auction day to inspect and check out the equipment and camper trailers for themselves."
Other items being sold in the two-day Fort Worth auction include a large selection of construction equipment on Day 1 (July 15), including wheel loaders, crawler tractors, articulated dump trucks, motor scrapers, compaction equipment, hydraulic excavators and aerial and lifting equipment. The 500 camper trailers, along with an assortment of trucks and trailers will be sold on Day 2 (July 16).
Equipment consignments are still being accepted; owners interested in selling their equipment in the auction can contact the Fort Worth auction site at +1.817.237.6544 to discuss their options.
