"Romantic Dinner at Home" is Top 2015 Valentine's Day Wish for Most Americans

OMAHA, Neb., Jan. 26, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Omaha Steaks announced today that in a recent nationwide Valentine's Day survey of more than 1,000 Americans, nearly 90 percent of those responding said they would enjoy their Valentine surprising them this year with a romantic dinner for two at home.

Additionally, more than 71 percent of those responding indicated they feel the most loved on Valentine's Day when their Valentine cooks or gives them their favorite foods in lieu of a special gift like flowers or jewelry (less than 29 percent). The survey indicated the top foods used to show your love on Valentine's Day include:

• Chocolate (60 percent)
• Wine (43 percent)
• Steak (43 percent)

When it comes to dining at home, 54 percent said they cook dinner together when they celebrate Valentine's Day at home, and cited avoiding crowds (70 percent), quiet (69 percent) and less expensive (71 percent) as advantages to celebrating with dinner at home. When it comes to what's on the menu, steak/roast, surf and turf and lobster/shrimp were the most popular entrees accounting for more than 54 percent of responses.
