RS earned a 2025 Top 100 North American Inspiring Workplaces Award for creating an exceptional, people-first workplace with a positive and inspiring culture, ranking 67 among the top 100 companies.

The Inspiring Workplaces Awards annually recognize and celebrate organizations of all sizes across various industries for creating exceptional, people-first workplaces with positive and inspiring cultures that make employees feel like they belong and encourage increased engagement, productivity, and overall success. They also rank the top 100 organizations in each of eight regional categories — Global, North America, U.K. and Ireland, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Australasia, Asia, and Latin America — based on the inputs of an independent expert judging panel.

RS was first honored by Inspiring Workplaces in 2022, earning a ranking of 33 in what was then the Top 50 Inspiring Workplaces in North America Award. Inspiring Workplaces began doubling its honorees in 2024, when RS earned both a Top 100 North American Inspiring Workplaces Award and a Top 100 Global Inspiring Workplaces Award.

RS fosters an inclusive, people-first culture that encourages employees to make amazing happen for a better world both within and beyond the organization by listening to, respecting, and trusting each other, seeking diverse perspectives, collaborating with purpose as a single connected team, taking ownership, and satisfying customers' needs. RS culture also inspires employees to care about their immediate and long-term impact on colleagues, customers, suppliers, and communities, be adaptable, and identify ways to innovate and make positive changes. 

Leadership. The RS Amazing Leadership framework inspires employees to achieve success by emphasizing continuous improvement, building trust, effective communication, purpose creation, personnel development, and business growth. RS leaders build diverse teams with complementary skill sets to overcome challenges and enhance customer value. They set clear expectations, challenge teams with stretch goals, monitor performance fairly, and hold individuals accountable. They encourage experimentation and a "fail fast, fail forward" approach. They use pulse surveys and town halls to gauge engagement and wellbeing, and they regularly send reminders about the RS Employee Resource Program and other wellness benefits.

RS leadership also offers a master's program that blends virtual and in-person master classes, coaching sessions, personal development plans, and mentorship to help participants build a global network of peers, gain exposure to the executive team, and develop the skills to drive meaningful change on a global scale.

Wellbeing. RS recognizes that wellbeing is multifaceted — encompassing physical, financial, and mental health, as well as a sense of connection, purpose, and safety — and takes a holistic approach to ensuring that employees thrive both personally and professionally. RS encourages employees to walk and stretch throughout the day, provides them with access to the Calm mindfulness app — and insured employees with additional access to Hinge Health personalized exercise programs, TalkSpace therapists and psychiatrists, and Ginger integrated mental healthcare professionals — and regularly addresses mental wellness in employee resource groups dedicated to supporting various collectives. RS also offers hybrid and 4/10 work schedules, promotes goal setting and purpose development through regular Talking Performance meetings with managers, provides financial workshops, matches 100% of employee 401k contributions up to 6%, offers an optional buddy program for new hires, and has both a Safety Committee and Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager.

Inclusion. RS believes that everyone deserves to truly be themselves at work — without hesitation, concern, or exception — and is actively working towards a leadership team that reflects the customers, suppliers, and communities it serves and an environment where everyone is proud and excited to come to work and can perform at their best, develop, and thrive. RS partners with myGwork to enhance LGBTQ+ recruitment efforts and supports a variety of employee resource groups, including Bloomers for early career employees, SPECTRUM for LGBTQ+ employees, Elevate for women employees, EmbRACE for employees with diverse ethnicities, races, and cultures, and LifeWorks for employees interested in mental, physical, and financial wellbeing. RS also supports organized educational events for Mental Health Awareness Month, Pride Month, and Black History Month, and has earned recognition on the Human Rights Council's Corporate Equality Index for the last three years, including a 100/100 score in 2024. 

Communications. RS ensures that employees understand the company's purpose, values, and strategy, as well as the critical role they play in their successful execution, by adopting communication strategies that meet employees where they are. For example, employees can now use Slido, a mobile-based survey and Q&A platform, to submit questions during in-person events like townhalls, which has led to clearer, more accessible, and meaningful communication. Attendance at events like these is also up due to optional calendar invites and shorter, more focused emails that highlight key details.

RS shares targeted sentiment surveys to assess employee responses to specific events that impact them, promotes employee feedback through coffee chats with senior leaders, focus groups, and town halls, encourages peer-led department sessions to foster honest, open dialogue about desired improvements, offers sessions with the VP of People to address concerns at the business level, and maintains an AskUsAnything email box that allows employees to submit questions or concerns at any time. The company also communicates with executive sponsors from each employee resource group to help drive change through employee feedback.

To better communicate with warehouse employees, RS hosts Warehouse Town Halls across multiple shifts and team meetings at the start of each shift, shares real-time information via an array of digital news screens, and offers a mobile phone stipend to support the use of the RS texting app for timely updates.
