Ruckus Launches FERRY.NYC & Publicly Announces Its Selection by the NYC Ferry Operated by Hornblower
NEW YORK, April 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- NYC Ferry Operated by Hornblower, New York City's first new citywide ferry system in over 100 years, made public today that it has selected Ruckus as its creative and strategic agency following a lengthy competitive review. Ruckus is based in New York City.
In this capacity, Ruckus has been working with NYC Ferry Operated by Hornblower since October 2016 to connect with local New Yorkers and visitors through an effective branding and messaging campaign, including today's launch of www.ferry.nyc – a state-of-the-art platform that will serve riders when the first ferry launches May 1, 2017. Ruckus' experience in design and brand awareness will help highlight the affordability and convenience NYC Ferry will offer to millions of future riders.
NYC Ferry Operated by Hornblower is an initiative conceived in 2015 by New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio to expand and improve ferry service in New York City to neighborhoods where jobs and housing are growing rapidly, and to areas that have been transit deserts for decades.
When Phase 1 launches in just a couple of weeks (Phase 2 launches in summer 2018), a total of 20 brand new state-of-the-art vessels operating at 21 landings throughout New York City will service over 4.6 million projected passenger trips annually and create vital new travel links to culturally diverse neighborhoods from the Rockaways, to Soundview, Bay Ridge, Lower East Side and others.
