Run to Remember(R) Joins the American Lung Association and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as Official Charities of the Bourbon Chase
ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 22 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Bourbon Chase -- one of the most popular overnight relay races in the country -- has named the National Hospice Foundation's Run to Remember® as one of its three official charity programs. The other two are the American Lung Association and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
The Bourbon Chase is a 200-mile relay on the Bourbon Trail in Kentucky. The inaugural race was last year. Due the success of it, this year's race is already sold out. The 2010 relay will be held October 22-23. During the overnight race, 200 teams of 12 runners each will cover a distance of 200 miles and have 36 hours to complete the distance.
"Because of this charity status, people will have the opportunity to raise funds for NHF and local hospices in Kentucky or other states," said Pamala L. Bouchard, NHF's executive director. "We are thrilled and honored by this development."
Run to Remember® is NHF's athletic fundraising program. Through it, runners (and walkers) train for races of varying lengths, honor their loved one's memories, and raise money for hospice. The program benefits local hospices across the country, as well as NHF's national work to advance hospice care at the national level.
