Rural Smart Grid Summit Announces Award Winners
Landis+Gyr, Grid2020 and S&C Electric take Top Honors
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, Dec. 6, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- The Rural Smart Grid Summit (RSGS) released the list of award winners selected by over seventy CEOs of U.S. Electric Utility Cooperatives at the event October 26-29, 2010.
"As we expected, the CEOs of some of the top rural electric coops were very engaged in the Summit and were able to pick some real stars at RSGS," said William Booth, General Manager of RSGS. "Next year, we expect the competition to be more intense as more vendors participate."
The RSGS is an exclusive, invitation-only, fully paid event for the CEOs of seventy plus Electric Cooperatives. The Electric Cooperatives interact in small, intimate venues with Smart Grid technology executives. Senior level discussions take place that many times disclose future products and help create collaboration on future trends and needs. In addition, the Summit offers exclusive vendor sponsorships to about 40 companies who will discuss and disclose their Smart Grid solutions.
"The Rural Smart Grid Summit exceeded my expectations. It provided a whole new way of engaging with prospective customers. Our participation gave us the opportunity to meet with utility executives in a setting that was both social and business-friendly. I recommend participation in the RSGS to any Smart Grid vendor," said Lisa Fennell, Solutions Director of Landis+Gyr.
Nominees for "Best Overall Vendor Presentation" included Landis+Gyr, NorthStar Utilities Solutions/MeterSense, and S&C Electric. The winner was S&C Electric. Nominees for "Best Smart Grid Solution" included GE Digital Energy, Landis+Gyr and NorthStar Utilities Solutions/MeterSense. The winner was Landis + Gyr. And the final award, "Vendor to Watch" included nominees Grid2020, Landis + Gyr, and Ruggedcom. The winner was Grid2020.
The high-level discussions between utility heads and vendors at RSGS would never evolve out of the typical tradeshow, where hundreds of vendors sit at their booths. The Summit knocks down the barriers, removes the wasted volume, and promotes true business development conversations.
GE's Digital Energy, IBM, IBEC, Landis+Gyr, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, ABB and AT&T served as major sponsors of the Rural Smart Grid Summit 2010. Next year's summit will be held September 19-21, 2011 at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa in Bonita Springs, Florida. For more information, visit www.ruralsmartgrid.com.
