RushCard Members Speak Out Against Critics' Claims of Expensive Prepaid Debit Card Fees

CINCINNATI, March 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- As critics continue to knock the prepaid debit card industry and its perceived high fees, today users of The Prepaid Visa® RushCard are speaking out on the contrary. In its Money Management Pages Survey commissioned earlier this month, RushCard members reveal that using their prepaid debit cards and its money management tools and features is helping them save a substantial amount of money each year.

More notably, the results from the survey continue to show that members are saving by using their RushCard. Of those surveyed, 75 percent report they are saving between $300-$900 a year by using the money management pages, where members set their spending levels in 14 categories - including auto, dining, health and fitness, and utilities.  There, they can review their recent spending data regularly in each category, track their spending and monitor their deposit and balance trends to achieve their financial goals.

Fifty-two percent strongly agree the pages have helped them save money, up from 41% in 2009. Also, since 2009, more members are using the money management pages; in fact 75% of RushCard members use their free money management tools with 41% using them weekly or more often.

When it comes to sticking to their budget, 54% of survey respondents strongly agree that RushCard's money management pages have helped them stick to their budget; up from 44% in 2009.
