SAE International Honors Two with Marvin Whitlock Award

WARRENDALE, Pa., Nov. 23, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- SAE International has honored two aerospace engineering professionals with its Marvin Whitlock Award.

Justin R. Greener is the 2009 recipient of the award. After serving four years in the United States Air Force, to include a deployment in support of 9/11 Operation Enduring Freedom, Greener was hired by The Boeing Company at McChord AFB, providing C-17 On-site field engineering support. Later earning his degree in professional aeronautics, he went on to accept a Field Engineering position at McGuire AFB, New Jersey. After providing two years of support to McGuire, Greener then accepted a field engineering position at Dover AFB in 2007. Greener graduated from Brush High School in 1993.  

Joseph B. Davis Jr. is the 2010 recipient of the award. Davis has more than 30 years of Integrated Logistics/Product Support experience with aeronautical systems sustainment for government program offices, major OEMs, and the United States Marine Corps. In his current role as General Manager of Saddle Butte Systems, he is responsible for all aspects of the company's logistics systems and configuration management consulting support on two major Naval aviation programs. He also serves as a senior logistics advisor for sustainment planning and logistics system development with four other companies as well as serving on systems engineering and product support technical committees with AIAA and the Reliability, Maintainability and Supportability Committee with SAE International. Prior to this, Davis held senior leadership positions for F-35 Support Systems at Lockheed Martin where he managed an international team in the development of ILS products to test and sustain the Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter. His service with the U.S. Marine Corps included department head, division head, and technical positions supporting numerous fixed-wing and rotor-wing platforms.  Davis is engaged in Doctoral studies with the Executive Leadership Program in Human and Organizational Learning at The George Washington University. Davis received his award during the 2011 SAE International AeroTech Congress and Exhibition Banquet.

This Marvin Whitlock Award annually recognizes individuals for significant technical contributions and/or innovation related to operational availability of aircraft. Operational availability includes areas such as repair design, tooling, maintenance practices, logistics, inspection, modification and safety. The award acknowledges and commemorates the distinctive management contributions of the late Marvin Whitlock, Senior Vice President-Maintenance and a member of the Board of Directors of United Air Lines.
