Safe in Common to Exhibit at National Teaching Institute and Critical Care Exposition

ORLANDO, Fla., May 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Safe in Common, a non-profit organization of healthcare safety advocates, today announced it will exhibit at the National Teaching Institute and Critical Care Exposition (NTI), which will be held in Orlando, Fla. from May 19 - 24.

During its year-long Needlestick Safety Advocacy Tour, Safe in Common (SIC) is engaging healthcare personnel at conferences throughout the nation to raise awareness of needlestick safety and promote safer engineering controls that can protect those at risk of needlestick injuries. Some 5.6 million healthcare personnel in the U.S. are at risk of occupational exposure to HIV, hepatitis C and other life-threatening bloodborne diseases transmitted via needlestick injuries.

As part of SIC's involvement at NTI, the Organization will encourage healthcare personnel to take the Needlestick Safety Pledge as a step towards doing more to prevent needlestick and sharps related injuries. This year's NTI, held at the Orange County Convention Center, will be attended by approximately six thousand healthcare personnel.

Safe in Common's work to eradicate needlestick and sharps related injuries and foster adoption of safer engineering controls is expected to resonate among NTI's audience of healthcare personnel. Each year, attendees gather to discover the latest approaches for the care of high acuity and critically ill patients, share questions, exchange stories, experiences and ideas. Safe in Common will be exhibiting at Booth 123, where healthcare workers can sign the Needlestick Safety Pledge.
