SAP Scores Big in Global Sustainability Rankings and Continues Path as Industry Leader

WALLDORF, Germany, Sept. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) has scored high marks in the 2011 Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI) and Carbon Disclosure Project Global 500 report, advancing its position as a sustainability leader in the software industry.

For the fifth consecutive year, SAP has maintained its position as software sector leader in the DJSI, comprising the Dow Jones Sustainability Index World and Dow Jones STOXX Sustainability Index. In 2011, SAP obtained a weighted rating of 76 percent across the indexes' economic, environmental and social dimensions. The company improved its scores in the areas of labor practice indicators, standards for suppliers, environmental policy and code of conduct. Following a best-in-class approach, the DJSI include companies across all industries that outperform their peers in a number of sustainability metrics. The indexes are based on an annual sustainability performance analysis of the world's 2,500 largest companies from the 57 sectors that encompass economic, environmental and social criteria, such as corporate governance, water-related risks and stakeholder relations, as well as industry-specific risks and opportunities.

The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), an independent not-for-profit organization, named SAP among the top 10 best performing companies in the 2011 edition of the annual Carbon Disclosure Project Global 500 report. This year, SAP is featured in both the Carbon Performance Leadership Index (CPLI) and Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI), commending its leadership in reducing emissions and mitigating the risks of climate change. The report, written by global professional services firm PwC on behalf of CDP, highlights Global 500 companies that have demonstrated a strong commitment to strategy, governance, stakeholder communications and emissions reduction in their CDP responses.
