WASHINGTON, Sept. 6, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The U.S. Small Business Administration this week announced the award of $500,000 in a cooperative agreement with the Montgomery County (Maryland) Chamber Community Foundation's National Center for Veteran Institute for Procurement (VIP), to deliver the SBA's Veteran Federal Procurement Entrepreneurship Training Program (VFPETP).
The funding opportunity, offered by SBA's Office of Veterans Business Development, enables VIP to deliver entrepreneurship training to veteran-owned and service-disabled veteran-owned businesses nationwide interested in pursuing, or are already engaged in federal procurement.
"VIP shares SBA's commitment to provide meaningful training and development to the veteran small business community to ensure they are competitive for federal procurement opportunities," said Barb Carson, Associate Administrator, SBA Office of Veterans Business Development. "Through the Veteran Federal Procurement Entrepreneurship Training Program, VIP will support SBA and federal government-wide efforts to achieve the federally mandated three percent service-disabled veteran-owned business spending goal."
VFPETP is a three-day certification program designed for veteran-owned companies to increase their ability to win government contracts by establishing best business practices. The curriculum, which includes VIP START, ideal for companies entering government contracting; VIP GROW, geared toward expanding within government contracting; and VIP INTERNATIONAL, structured for companies that export or have federal contracts performing outside the United States, addresses various stages of the business owner's development in the procurement arena.
