SEARCH Group Partners Named As Search Firm To Assist In The Search For The State Of Utah's New Superintendent Of Public Instruction

SALT LAKE CITY, July 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Executive search firm SEARCH Group Partners (SGP) has been retained by the Utah State Board of Education to lead in its search for a new State Superintendent of Public Instruction. Dr. Martell Menlove, the current State Superintendent, announced his retirement in March. The State Superintendent of Public Instruction oversees a staff of nearly 1,100 employees and is responsible for the distribution of more than $3 billion to district and charter schools.
As the principal executive officer of the State Board of Education, the Superintendent directs the work of the Utah State Office of Education and assists the State Board of Education in oversight of the Utah State Office of Rehabilitation and the Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind. The State Superintendent acts as the liaison to the Governor, State Legislature, and other stakeholders on behalf of the State Board of Education.

SEARCH Group Partners' initial search is expected to take approximately six-eight weeks, after which it will turn over to the Board of Education the names of at least six qualified candidates who will be reviewed in addition to others who have also applied.
