Second Wind Organizes 2nd Annual Boston Area Tweet-Up to Celebrate Global Wind Day

BOSTON, June 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Second Wind will celebrate Global Wind Day by sponsoring its second annual Tweet-Up for environmentally conscious Twitter followers at the Blue Shirt Cafe in Davis Square on Tuesday, June 15 at 12:30 p.m.  A Tweet-Up is an informal meeting, at a public place, announced on a Twitter page intended for people who share similar interests.

Organized by the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) and the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), Global Wind Day promotes awareness of wind energy worldwide, inviting the public to celebrate wind power as a near-term solution to global climate change and a driver for economic growth in local communities.

The Global Wind Energy Council website states that last year more than 300 Global Wind Day events were held in 35 countries from China to the Czech Republic to Canada. "Global Wind Day is a fantastic opportunity for people to participate in wind energy events and ask all the questions they may have about it. People will be able to see for themselves how it works and what the benefits are," said Christian Kjaer, chief executive officer of EWEA.  

The annual Tweet-Up is also cause to celebrate several other recently announced milestones for Second Wind. Its Triton Wind Profiler system has amassed more than 900,000 hours of global wind data and will hit the one-million-hour mark in just a few weeks. The company is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and Second Wind also recently sold its 10,000th Nomad wind resource data logger. Nomad units are deployed in 50 countries and on seven continents, from the Arctic to Antarctica, with each unit compiling data from as many as 20 weather sensors.
