Senator Gillibrand Introduces Infertility Treatment Tax Credit Legislation

MCLEAN, Va., May 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association applauds Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (NY) for introducing a bill in the U.S. Senate that would provide eligible taxpayers a tax credit for the out-of-pocket expenses incurred with infertility medical treatment.

Appropriately named the "Family Act of 2011," the bill, S 965, would apply to expenses related to in vitro fertilization and treatments to preserve fertility for cancer patients.

Introduced just days after infertility advocates from across the country held meetings with Members of Congress as part of RESOLVE's Advocacy Day, the Family Act will remove barriers to care for people diagnosed with infertility. The tax credit is modeled after an existing tax credit available to taxpayers who incur adoption expenses.
